The Curiosity rover exited safe mode on Sunday after an unexpected software reboot last week.
The mobile robot on Mars entered safe mode on Nov. 7 after it unexpectedly rebooted its software during a communications pass with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, according to a news release.
A team determined the error began in the rover’s catalog file, which caused an unexpected reset when the catalog was processed by a new version of flight software that was recently installed.
“We returned to normal engineering operations,” Curiosity mission software and systems engineer Rajeev Joshi said in a news release. “We are well into planning the next several days of surface operations and expect to resume our drive to Mount Sharp this week.”
Mission science planning resumes tomorrow and Curiosity science operations will resume on Thursday, according to a news release.
